Table 6: Advantages of Seamless Steel Pipes
| Feature | Seamless Pipe Advantage | Explanation |
| Pressure Resistance | Superior Strength | The absence of a longitudinal weld seam eliminates a potential weak point, allowing the pipe to withstand significantly higher internal pressures. |
| Structural Integrity | Uniformity | Seamless pipes possess a uniform metallurgical structure and wall thickness around the entire circumference, ensuring consistent mechanical properties. |
| Corrosion Resistance | No Weld Decay | Welded areas are often more susceptible to "weld decay" or localized corrosion. Seamless pipes avoid this risk entirely, making them ideal for "corrosion service." |
| Precision & Shape | Better Roundness | The manufacturing process typically results in better concentricity and "out-of-round" tolerances compared to heavy-wall welded pipes. |
| Safety & Reliability | Reduced Failure Risk | Without a seam to fail or leak under stress, vibration, or thermal expansion, seamless pipes provide a higher safety margin in critical applications. |
| Internal Surface | Smoother Flow | The internal bore is smooth and free of weld beads, which reduces fluid friction and prevents the buildup of debris or contaminants. |
Table 7: Comparison Summary: Seamless vs. Welded
| Criteria | Seamless (e.g., JIS G3459-S) | Welded (e.g., ERW/EFW) |
| Manufacturing | Extruded from a solid billet. | Formed from plate/strip and welded. |
| Cost | Higher (complex process). | Lower (efficient for large diameters). |
| Typical Use | High pressure, high temp, oil/gas. | Low pressure, structural, water lines. |

1. Corrosion resistance:The reason why SUS 304 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance in the atmosphere is due to the formation of a chromium passivation film on its surface. But when SUS 304 is in a warm chloride environment, the corrosion is even faster than non-alloyed mild steel.
2. Welding:SUS 304 stainless steel has good weldability and can be welded by the usual welding method without heat treatment before welding.
However, the welding of SUS 304 material are also insufficient: after welding large steel parts, it is sensitive to intergranular corrosion in chlorine-containing medium. In this case, SUS304L with lower carbon content should be selected.
3. Applications:SUS304 stainless steel is widely used in medical fields (such as surgical instruments, test instruments), food fields (such as kitchen utensils and tableware), architectural decoration and artwork (such as metal curtains, punching nets, metal facades), and electronic products (such as cell phones and Laptop case, kettle), daily necessities (such as scissors, water cups, etc.)
